I rewatched the TV Mini-Series version of "It" from 1990 a few weeks ago. It had a great part one with the kids and their internal relationship, a brilliant Pennywise "clown" [Tim Curry], and a terrible part two with lousy acting and lousy special effects. Particularly the ending sucked, but that was a problem it had inherited from the book. This new 2017 remake is also planned as 2 movies. This first movie deals ... [read more]

Slægt are easily Denmark's finest metal band right now. Period. They may be looking like a young Disneyland After Dark, but just wait for them to hit their instruments, and you'll be dropping your jaw. They all have the skills of another fine Danish export, Mercyful Fate, and also that NWOBM sound, Iron Maiden were part of back then. Duelling guitars, black metal vocals, absurdly great drumming that totally screams names like Horgh ... [read more]

I wasn't expecting a lot, because I'd read some rather harsh reviews, but most of what they said turned out to be untrue. Well at least if you don't remember a single thing from the graphic novels, like me. Visually this movie is stunning. Like Star Wars and The 5th Element and Avatar on speed and LSD. The pace is generally very good with the exception of a period near the finale, where it ... [read more]

An image has begun to emerge, so let's give this a try. The new album is both very enjoyable and well produced indeed (Bob Ezrin, say no more.) Still, let's face it, it's impossible to outdo yourself, when you are Alice fucking Cooper with a past that goes back to the beginning of the 70ies and beyond, and you are legendary in every way. I think it lacks some of the craziness and experimental ... [read more]

Charlize Theron is a British MI6 agent and she's being sent to Berlin to obtain a list of information about secret agents that can't fall into enemy hands. The story is a bit of a mess and there's a lot of agents and double-agents of several nationalities and several plot twists. The stunts are great though and Charlize gets do do a lot of hardcore fights as well as a lesbian affair with a French ... [read more]

This was probably my last Depeche Mode concert. I think they seem old and tired. I have seen them at least 3 times earlier + a Dave Gahan solo gig. This week's concert wasn't anywhere near as good as any of the earlier gigs I've seen. Andy Fletcher reached new heights of idiotic stage behaviour. I swear I saw him yawning behind his email-reading-desk at one point on the big screen. Wisely they didn't ... [read more]

In Ridley Scott's new Prometheus [2012] sequel and Alien [1979] prequel, a colonization ship decides to visit an Earth-like new planet on the way to their planned destination. Let's just reveal, that it was a very bad decision. But if the captain is a religious moron, and all movie astronauts these days seem to be emotion-driven lunatics without any self-control or sense of logic, then bad things are bound to happen. David [Michael Fassbender] ... [read more]

I don't know what it is with Amanda Palmer these days, but she has been trying to bore me to death for a while now. It pretty much began after she had her baby, so that was probably a bad career move. Well, bad for me at least. This new album is a collaboration with Edward Ka-Spel. I don't know if he is usually boring too, but on this album he surely is. It ... [read more]

I stepped into the rumours of a new young Danish kick-ass metal band in Copenhagen's Vega last year (2016). I went there to hear the Irish band Primordial, and I walked out of Vega with a vinyl EP of the Danish support act Slægt afterwards. They hadn't embarressed themselves at all, even if support gigs are usually impossible to survive. I put on their EP on my trusty 1210 at home, and it was true ... [read more]

The new Depeche Mode album is so boring that it must have been written solely by Andy Fletcher, while he was standing behind his laptop on stage, reading his emails. It's like trying to watch the "Gandhi" [1982] movie without falling asleep. That movie runs for more than 3 hours and nothing happens. Much like on this album. Luckily it only runs for 49 minutes, but it feels like an eternity. Highlights? None. ... [read more]
